‘Au Gnome De L’Amour’ Available Online

Date: February 14th, 2011

Last night was the premiere of Au Gnome De L’Amour, the short film noir inspired flick that I’d scored the music to. This was the first time I’d seen the final cut and was impressed! There was a great atmosphere and it was a pleasure to see that it was so well received.

It’s Valentine’s day today. To help celebrate or commiserate, you can watch Au Gnome De L’Amour online here. Enjoy!

Au Gnome De L’Amour is directed by Chris Lane and stars Hazel Earle and Stan.

Au Gnome De L’Amour

Date: February 12th, 2011

I’ve just scored the music to upcoming film Au Gnome De L’Amour produced, written and directed by Chris Lane. Featuring Hazel Earle and a remarkable co-star (just wait and see), this stylish film noir tells the story of love and betrayal.

Rather appropriately, Au Gnome De L’Amour debuts on Sunday 13th Febuary at the Valentine’s Day themed Filmonic event Love Is In The Air at the Deaf Institute, Manchester. You can find details here. Otherwise stick tight, as the film will be made available online shortly afterwards.

And The Release Date Is…

Date: December 8th, 2010

Yes, I know. It’s been a while. I’ve been working on a lot of things and my own release has suffered as a result.

The demo tracks to my single have been completed and sound great! It’s time to take a break from these songs for a couple of weeks, then approach them with a fresher mind. I will be recording the tracks with some great instrumentalists (names TBA – just watch this space) and then preparing the tracks for release. I’m looking at February or March 2011 as the tentative release date.

After this single has been released, the upcoming EP will follow shortly. Remnants is on temporary hold whilst I concentrate on these works.

Music Across Cultures Talk

Date: May 16th, 2010

I’ll be doing a short talk about music across cultures at the Madlab on Monday 17th May at 7pm. The session will involve looking at the development and some of the core similarities and differences between music across the world, reinforced with some live demonstrations. As music across cultures is a vast and growing topic, I’ll primarily be looking at pitch and melodies for now and will be throwing in some maths for good measure.

For those who aren’t able to make it, and for the attendees who want to find out more, I’ll translate the presentation into a blog post shortly after the session.

This talk is part of Interesting Monday, and I’ll be speaking alongside three other speakers with their own ‘interesting’ topics. For more information check it out on the Madlab website.

New Releases Announced

Date: April 22nd, 2010

After a couple of months of silence, I’m pleased to announce that two new albums will be on their way to you shortly!

The first, Remnants will consist of instrumental works mainly of an acoustic and orchestral nature with some tracks including subtle electronic backing. As well as original material, I’ll also be including adaptations of some of my favourite pieces. This collection will be released in instalments, with the first section on its way very soon.

The second release is yet to be named and will be released as a whole. It’s difficult to summarise the concept, but if you can imagine Silk Road inspired electronic rock with myself on vocals you’ll be somewhere close. The tracks will be influenced by the different musical traditions across the Silk regions and explore various instruments and playing styles. The release date is to be confirmed.

Remember to check back soon for the first installment of Remnants. Follow me on Twitter to receive updates my progress.
